No fewer than seven fathers in Akwa Ibom State cooling their feet in the police cell are awaiting trial for alleged rape and defilement of their daughters.

Dr. Martha Udom Emmanuel, wife of Akwa Ibom governor stated this at the inauguration of the ONNA Chapter of Eket Senatorial District Women Forum and Empowerment Scheme sponsored by Family Empowerment and Youth Reorientation Path-initiative (FEYReP), her pet project.

“As I speak, we have about seven fathers in police cell awaiting trial for defiling their daughters. If you know your husband is that kind of a person, please protect your daughters.

“Some women are fond of covering up their husbands when they have sexually molested their children. If you are caught, you will go to jail,” she added.

Mrs Emmanuel warned that any woman found to be covering up for a husband who sexually molested a child would be arrested, prosecuted and imprisoned.

According to her, any woman who is comfortable with her husband for sexually molesEing her child must be wicked person and a witch.

The wife of the Chairman of Onna Local Government Area, Mrs. Idorenyin Iniabasi Ekanem pledged to support the programmes and policies of the present administration to aid in achieving the Completion Agenda of Governor Udom Emmanuel.

Mrs. Ekanem urged the women to remain loyal to people in authority, assuring them that God rewards faithfulness.

The ONNA First lady appreciated the women executives for meeting to brainstorm barely two weeks after their inauguration, urging them to be united and prayerful for the success of the Udom Emmanuel administration.

The President of the Eket Senatorial District Women Forum, ONNA Chapter, Mrs. Jayne Ezekiel Umoh, who was full of gratitude to God for qualifying them to lead the Women of Onna  pledged the preparedness of her administration to carry all the Women along, emphasizing that there is power in unity.

Mrs. Umoh urged the women to emulate the Governor’s wife, Dr. Martha Udom Emmanuel who is working hard to impact the lives of the vulnerable women of the local government area.

She announced the intention of the Forum to hold an enlarged meeting of the Forum by the last week of October, embark on a tour of all the wards in the Local Government Area as well as visits to relevant institutions within and outside the state.

The Financial Secretary of the Akwa Ibom State Women Forum, Mrs. Idara Umoh, said that it is the responsibility of the female leaders to support the governor and his wife.

She thanked the president and other Executive members of the Eket Senatorial District Women Forum for accepting to serve, adding that God specialises in using the weak to confound the wise.
