The 14 families of policemen in Akwa Ibom State Police Command who died in active service got N57,700, 682.47 million under Police Group Life Assurance Scheme for the 2020/2021.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Odiko MacDon, a Superintendent of Police, stated this in a press release made available to journalists in Uyo on Thursday.
According to the release, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Alkali Baba Usman represented at the occasion by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Department of Operations, DCP Naziru Abdulmajid presented cheques to the bereaved families.
Usman assured officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) of better welfare packages under his watch.
The statement reads: “The Inspector General of Police, IGP Alkali Baba Usman, has assured Officers and Men of the Nigeria Police Force of better welfare packages under his watch.
“The IGP gave the assurance while presenting cheques worth fifty-Seven million, Seventy Thousand, Six Hundred and eighty-two naira, forty-Seven Kobo to fourteen (14) families of deceased police officers serving in Akwa Ibom Police command as payment for claims in the Police Group Life Assurance Scheme for 2020/2021.
“The IGP who condoled with the families of the fallen heroes, advised them to use the money judiciously. He further assured those yet to receive their cheques to be patient as the cheques are being released in tranches and will soon get to them.”
