Residents of Eyin Ala in Akure metropolis, the Ondo state capital, are currently at loss over two dead children in a freezer.
The minors- Olufemitan Olaitan, 9 and Oluwafifunmi Olaitan, 7- were reportedly left at home by their mother, Olubunmi, only to return after some hours to find them dead inside the freezer.
The deceased male children, who were in primary school, sources said might have been playing inside the freezer only to be trapped thereafter leading to their suffocation.
However, another source alleged that the kids might have been murdered before they were dumped inside the freezer by their assailant.
The source said that their assailant may have dumped their lifeless bodies inside the freezer to give an impression that they suffocated after being trapped inside the fridge.
Police source hinted that investigation into the death of the minors was still in progress and that all avenues would be explored to unravel the mystery behind their death
Confirming the incident which had thrown the entire area into mourning, Femi Joseph, the Police image maker, described the death of the two minors as sad and unfortunate.
Joseph said that “there was no trace that the boys were killed and so far we have not made any arrest on the matter.
According to him “We did not suspect any foul play because it appeared as if the kids were playing inside the deep freezer and they were trapped when there was nobody at home to help them open the door of the freezer. Lt is really a sad and unfortunate incident.” Joseph said.
