The people of Ukanafun Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom State have reaffirmed their resolve to ensure the realisation of Governor Udom Emmanuel’s succession plan.

A cross section of political stakeholders in the area made this position known during the inauguration of Ibom Consolidation Project (ICP) at Ikot Akpa Nkuk, the headquarters of Ukanafun Local Government Area.

Welcoming the ICP leadership to the area, a PDP Chieftain and former lawmaker in the local government area, Obong Saturday Akpan hailed the completion agenda of Mr. Emmanuel led administration in the state.

Akpan who is Commissioner 1 in Akwa Ibom Local Government Service Commission reassured the entourage led by Barr Uwem Ekanem that the party’s delegates remain intact for Pastor Umo Eno.

Addressing delegates and party chieftains, Ekanem, the State Coordinator of Ibom Consolidation Project, commended the people of the area for the large turn-out of the political class in the area, explaining that ICP is borne out of the need to consolidate on the numerous achievements of the PDP led administration in the State.

Ekanem, who scored Udom’s administration high in the areas of industrialization, security, peace and tranquility, reiterated the need for Ukanafun delegates to remain committed to the succession plan of the Governor by supporting Pastor Umo Eno as the preferred choice of Governor Udom Emmanuel.

He warned delegates to refrain from acts that could tarnish their image or discredit the success of the party in Ukanafun, reassuring them that Umo Eno remains the best bet to reposition the economic fortunes of the State, having garnered enough experience as a successful businessman.

Speaking in the same vein, Prince Godwin Ntukudeh who represented Director-General of Pastor Umo Eno Campaign Organization, Mr. Assam Assam, charged PDP delegates to remain loyal and unwavering to the party’s agenda, which is to produce a credible governorship candidate for the 2023 general elections.

Ntukudeh said the party has entrusted them with the responsibilities for delegates, charging them to deliver the mandate to fulfilling the aspirations of the party during the 2023 general elections.

Responding on behalf of the new executive members, Mr. Amos Udom, who is also Special Assistant to Governor Emmanuel on Projects Monitoring, commended leaders of thought in the area for giving them the opportunity to serve in different capacities, vowing never to let them down.

Udom also thanked the ICP leadership led by Uwem Ekanem; Assam Assam, the Director-General of Umo Eno Campaign Organisation; and Dr. Godwin Ntukudeh, the Deputy-General of Umo Emo Campaign Organisation for their visit.

According to him, the ICP Exco in the area is made up of an array of young men in the recurring Ukanafun politics, and assured that the team would work to justify the confidence reposed in them.

The former Councillor reaffirmed their commitment towards the succession plan of Governor Emmanuel, stressing that the Exco would provide block vote of delegates ahead of the party’s primaries to the admiration of the PDP, where their son, Elder Aniekan Akpan, is in charge.

Goodwill messages came from Mrs. Inemesit Caleb, the council’s Vice Chairman and Mr. Israel Ebenezer, a one-time Ukanafun Transition Chairman who jointly assured the leadership of the socio-political organization that Ukanafun would work in line with the programmes of the party during next year’s general elections, stressing that the people will not let them down.

High point of the event was the inauguration of zonal and chapter executives of Ibom Consolidation Project while Hon. Umakiso Umoh was inaugurated as Zonal Coordinator for Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency.

Hon. Ufokobong Owen emerged as the Deputy Coordinator of ICP; Hon. Uduak Essien, Secretary and Mr. Nsibiet Idiong, Treasurer, among other chapter and zonal executive members in the area.
