Three students of Akwa Ibom State origin have joined the list of top scorers in the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), announced on Thursday, July 18.
The announcement was made by JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, during the ongoing policy meeting of the Board in Abuja.
The students are Emmanuel Jeremiah who scored 366 while Essiet Etini and Umoh Joshua Augustine scored 365 respectively.
Straightnews gathered that Emmanuel Jeremiah Jewel, a student of Bishop Okoye Spiritan Secondary School in Oyigbo, Port Harcourt; Etini Essiet from Ikot Abasi Local Government Area was a student of Nigerian Christian Institute (NCI), Uyo.

The highest scores in this year’s examination range from 363 to 367.
The top scorers of 2024 UTME are:

2. Alayande David – 367 (Oyo State)
3. Orukpe Joel – 367 (Edo State)
4. Emmanuel Jeremiah – 366 (Akwa Ibom State)
5. Essiet Etini – 365 (Akwa Ibom State)
6. Ezenwoko Zara – 365 (Abia State)
7. Umoh Joshua – 365 (Akwa Ibom State)
8. Mamudu Abdulraham – 364 (Edo State)
9. Adeleke Abdulbasit – 363 (Kwara State)
10. Echem Victor – 363 (Rivers State)
11. Etute Emmanuel – 363 (Edo State)
12. Jedidiah Chidiebube – 363 (Imo State)
13. Adesanya Oluwatimilehin – 363 (Ogun State)
Prof. Oloyede praised the students for their exceptional performance and highlighted the competitive nature of this year’s examination.
Prof. Oloyede encouraged all UTME candidates to continue striving for excellence, emphasising that the Board remained committed to maintaining the integrity and credibility of its examinations.
Post-UTME: JAMB Excludes Inmates, Albinos, PWDs
JAMB has announced the categories of candidates to be excluded from the post Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination popularly known as Post-UTME.
The JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, stated the set of candidates to be excluded as, “candidates from outside Nigeria who applied through UTME/DE modes are exempted from the Post-UTME screening test but can be screened after admission.
“Candidates with disabilities, including but not limited to those who are blind, deaf, mute, autistic, amputees, lame, paralyzed, have Down syndrome, Dyslexia, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, albinism, cerebral palsy and disfigurements are exempt from the Post-UTME screening test.
“All institutions should clearly disclose this exemption in their advertisements for the Post-UTME screening test and strictly enforce this policy”.
Earlier, stakeholders pegged the minimum benchmark scores for admissions into universities at 140; polytechnics and colleges of education at 100 respectively.
