At least, 26 persons were Sunday reportedly massacred at Baptist Church service in Sutherland Springs, Texas in the United States of America.
A report monitored from CNN in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State capital said the gunman who reportedly killed at least 26 people at a Texas church Sunday lived at a Colorado Springs mobile home park as recently as 2014, according to voter records.
Law enforcement officials on Sunday evening identified Devin Patrick Kelley, 26, as the perpetrator in what was the worst mass shooting in Texas state history.
Dressed in black gear and armed with an assault rifle, Kelley opened fire during a Baptist church service in Sutherland Springs, a small community outside of San Antonio. As of Sundayevening, 26 were confirmed dead and at least 20 others had been wounded.
Preliminary reports on Sunday suggested Kelley had a troubled past.
An Air Force spokesman told the Associated Press that he was discharged from the military for allegedly assaulting his spouse and child. He was sentenced to 12 months’ confinement after a 2012 court-martial, and ultimately received a bad conduct discharge and was demoted in rank.
He served in Logistics Readiness in Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico from 2010 until his discharge in 2014, the AP reported.
Sometime that year, he moved to the Fountain Creek RV Park in Colorado Springs, according to public records.
Kelley registered as an unaffiliated voter in Colorado on Nov. 13, 2014, according to state voter records. But he never voted, and his registration was changed to inactive after his 2016 mail-ballot was returned.
He did not have a criminal record here, according to a Colorado Bureau of Investigation background check.
However, Kelley was found dead in his car after fleeing the scene, though investigators are still working to determine whether or not it was the result of a self-inflicted wound. The Air Force confirmed Kelley, 26, served from 2010 until 2014 and worked in the logistics readiness department at Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico said Ann Stefanek, an Air Force spokeswoman.
