    3,098 Delegates To Elect Akwa Ibom PDP Exco Officers Thursday

    Despite the COVID-19 fears, more than three thousand delegates from the 31 local government areas of the state would gather at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo for the election of new state executive officers to steam the party’s engine for the next four years.

    The state Congress which would have been held in March but postponed due to the ravaging coronavirus will elect state officers on Thursday, July 30 and will climax with the inauguration of the helmsmen at the state PDP Secretariat, Atan Offot, Uyo, on Saturday, August 1.

    But speaking at Inspiration FM, Uyo, on Wednesday, Comrade Iniobong Ememobong Essien, the outgoing PDP Publicity Secretary who said 3,098 delegates would gather at the stadium assured that adequate arrangments have been made to observe COVID-19 protocols.

    Already, the ruling party in the state had conducted elections and inaugurated executive members for the ward and local government chapter in the 31 local government areas.

    Though the candidates go unopposed, the screening committee of Obong Paul Ekpo, the outgoing state PDP Chairman, has given them a clean bill of health to mount the rostrum of office.

    At the helm of affairs is Mr. Udo Ekpenyong, a seasoned politician from Ukanafun as the state Chairman with support vibes from Lawrence Udosen from Nsit Atai as Deputy Chairman; Harrison Ekpo from Onna, Secretary; Mrs Joyce Udoh from Etim Ekpo, Treasurer and Hon. Mfon Nkanteen from Mkpat Enin as Financial Secretary.

    Also in the boat are Barr. Moses Akpan from Ikono as Organising Secretary; Borono Iniodu Bassey from Ibiono Ibom, Publicity Secretary; Barr. Akpadiaha Ebitu from Eket, Legal Officer; Ibanga Enoch Udofia from Etinan, Auditor; Mrs Mmeme Akpabio from Uruan, Woman Leader; Efremfon Effiong Umo from Obot Akara as Youth Leader and Ibanga Brownson from Nsit Ubium as Vice Chairman 1.
