At last, the five prospective members of National Youth Service Corps who perished in an auto crash have been laid to rest in their hometowns in Akwa Ibom and Imo States.
The deceased, who were on their way to the NYSC camp in Katsina State, were involved in an auto accident along Abaji-Kwali Expressway, Abuja.
Their remains were conveyed in a military plane and received by the bereaved families at the Victor Attah International Airport, Uyo, on Wednesday, August 4.
The late Ms Stella Ekikoh, a graduate of Sociology and Anthropology of University of Uyo, hailed from Ekpemiong Itak and Mr Victor Akpan, a graduate of Mass Communications, Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osorua in Ikot Ekpene was an indigene of Nung Ukim Ikot Abia, both in Ikono Local Government Area.
Both were buried in their hometowns Wednesday, August 4 amidst tears.
Coleman Ezuruike, a graduate of History and International Studies, University of Uyo from Orlu in Imo State was laid to rest in his hometown same Wednesday.
Miracle Effiong Asuquo, a graduate of Psychology, University of Uyo from Uyo Local Government Area was buried on Friday, August 6.
Asuquo was laid to rest after a funeral service by Living Faith Bible Church also known as Winners Chapel, Ikot Ebido, Uyo along Abak Road in Uyo.
The state NYSC director was represented by an assistant director in the scheme, Mr. Rotimi Abiodun who read the condolence message.
Lastly, Innocent Upere, a graduate of Mass Communications, Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osorua was laid to rest in his hometown – Okoroutip in Ibeno Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom on Saturday, August 7, 2021.
The NYSC director was represented by Mr. Umet Edet, an assistant director in the scheme.
