It has been asserted that more than 50 per cent of people in the world are yet to identify and use their God-given talents to improve their well-being indeed the larger society.

Pastor Sam Etok who stated Sunday in a sermon entitled “Your Gift Shall Open A Door For You” lamented that many people are operating under the borrowed talents of others while the rest are struggling to survive or eke a living for themselves due to their inability to know and utilise their talents.

Etok who is the Regional Overseer of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, South South 33 Region, Uyo, blamed this on people who lock up, abandon and fail to utlise their talents for their benefit.

He identified fear, fault-finding attitude, concealing talents, over-estimating ability, not wanting to be cheated in business by other people and selfishness, among others as factors responsible for locking up talent.

Reading from Proverbs 18:16, Etok advised people to develop their talents and use such to improve their lives.

“Do not operate under the shadow of others’ glorious talents; do not underrate your ceritficate or the course of your specialisation which is the starting point to discovering your talent.

“Do not blame anybody for your failure in life but discover and use you talent. Use what you have or any amount of money to start any business instead of expecting a bigger sum that may not come readily.

“Do not hide your talent, practise it so that people may know it and patronise you. Let other people enjoy your money or benefit from your talent. Refrain from self-centred attitude which could hinder you from developing your talent,” he enjoined.
