No fewer than 7000 fresh students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka have been exposed to leadership and entrepreneurship skills as part of their academic programme in the institution.
Professor Stanley Udedi, Dean Students Affairs in the university, organised the training in which some captains of industry, as well as the director of Chike Okoli Center for Entrepreneurial studies in the university, Professor Ngozi Anyikwa delivered lectures to the students
According to Udedi, the students needed the skill early in their studies so that they would have become fully prepared for self employment by the time they graduate, assuring that they would study under conducive environment throughout their stay in the institution.
Professor Joseph Ahaneku, the Vice- Chancellor of the university, expressed the commitment of authorities of the university towards making Nnamdi Azikiwe University a top-destination for intending students by providing the ambience required for academic excellence.
Ahanuke urged the freshmen to key into the university’s spirit of discipline, self-reliance and academic excellence, warning them to leave behind their parochial mindset.
He also highlighted packages put up by the University management to help students from indigent background that had verifiable financial needs, including the work-aid scheme in which over 70 students were currently benefitting.
