Five-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo was officially unveiled as a Juventus player on Monday evening, following his club-record transfer from Real Madrid..
The Italian side announced the player’s €100 million (R1.55 billion) move from Los Blancos last week, following weeks of speculation as to whether or not he would indeed leave Santiago Bernabeu.
With Ronaldo having opted to call time on his Madrid career, he leaves the Spanish giants as their record goalscorer, with 450 goals in 438 games.
The 33-year-old was unveiled as a Bianconeri player at a press conference on Monday evening after passing a medical earlier in the day.
“I’m very well, physically and emotionally. I’m proud of being here, and i have lots of motivation for the future. I’m different from the others who feel their careers are over at this age,” he said at his unveiling press conference.
“My story at Real Madrid was brilliant and I thank the fans. Now I want to dedicate myself to this new phase of my life. I am very motivated and I want to show that I am a player of the highest level.”
Ronaldo lifted 16 trophies during his nine-year spell at Real, leaving the club as the most expensive sale in its history.
