An Akwa Ibom-born journalist is the acting chairman of the state branch Civil Liberties Organization, CLO.
Until his appointment, Comrade (Otuekong) Franklyn Isong, the publisher of Radar Newspapers was the Vice Chiarman of the human rights body in the state.
This is sequel to the application by Comrade M.T. Ibrahim, the state chairman currently pursuing his partisan political engagement in Kwara State, his home town that power be transmuted to the Vice Chairman.
Barr. David Augustine, CLO Publicity and Campaign Secretary, Akwa Ibom State in a press release confirmed this on Wednesday, saying “At the organization’s meeting where the chairman’s request was tabled on October 17, 2018, members agreed to excuse the chairman and allow him time to participate in active politics.
“Motions for the effectuation of the chairman’s request were moved by Barr. Dominic Okon, a past chairman of the organization in the state, while Barr. Godknows Njoku seconded the motions.”
In his acceptance speech, Comrade Isong thanked his members, and urged them to brace up for participation in more activities.
He lauded Barr. Ibrahim for his selfless leadership to the organization, and wished him well in active politics.
The acting Chairman requested that meetings of the organization be temporarily held at 177 Aka Road, Uyo and the members unanimously ratified the request.
