The Special Adviser, Political/Legislative Affairs and Water Resources, Pastor Sunny Ibuot wants the aggrieved members of Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Akwa Ibom State to bury hatchet and embrace peace as the general elections approach.

Ibuot, speaking when IPAC members paid him a courtesy visit on Monday in Uyo, condemned squabbles and disagreement in the group which created disaffection among the members.

While thanking the IPAC members for their co-operation with and support to the state government, he however, advised them to forge a common front to actualising their visions.

He assured to bring sanity to the IPAC operations, and appealed to those that were discontented to reconcile and allow peace to reign in the group.

The political adviser, therefore, enjoined them to forge a formidable front for the emergence of credible persons during the forthcoming general elections in the state.

He used the occasion to drum support for the re-election of Governor Udom Emmanuel, who, according to him, was not only concerned about their welfare, but also committed towards ensuring their inclusion in the scheme of things.

The political affairs boss enjoined the state chairmen of the various political parties to mobilise their followers to express their interest through their PVCs during election to affirm the will of God will prevail during the forthcoming elections in the state.

Earlier in his remark, Pastor Ekomobong Akpan, the IPAC Chairman, had thanked the Special Adviser for wading into the crisis to reconcile all aggrieved members to work harmoniously for the success of credible candidates.

Akpan appealed to members of the group to let bygones be bygones, and embrace peace which he noted remains a pathway to success, saying “let us come back home irrespective of whatever happened, wherever you have sojourned to, this is high time for us to come home and support the administration of Governor Udom Emmanuel.”

Also, Mr. Kelvin Umoh, the State Chairman of Young Progressive Party (YPP) was unhappy over the factional leadership, marginalisation and denial of their prerogative responsibilities as a group, attributing rancor in the group to disregard of the hierarchy of authority and the pursuit of self-interest.

Nse Edem, the Permanent Secretary of the bureau, thanked IPAC members for their co-operation over the years, and warned them not to heat up the polity with issues capable of creating tension during elections.
