Mr. Nsima Ekere, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the state, has dragged Governor Udom Emmanuel of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before Akwa Ibom Governorship, National Assembly and State Houses of Assembly Elections Petition Tribunal.
The tribunal Secretary in the state, Sidiq Abubakar, who stated this Wednesday in a press release made available to journalists in Uyo, said this was one of the 34 petitions received by the tribunal as at April 1.
Abubakar announced that the tribunal also received two petitions for the senatorial election.
He recalled that Sen. Godswill Akpabio of APC had filed one against Mr Christopher Ekpenyong of the PDP in the Akwa Ibom North West senatorial race.
The secretary tribunal further announced that Mr Bassey Etim of APC filed another petition against Sen. Bassey Akpan of the PDP from Akwa Ibom North East.
He said eight petitions emanated from the House of Representatives while 23 petitions came from the State House of Assembly elections.
“We have received 34 petitions, including that of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate Mr Nsima Ekere, two petitions from the Senate, (and) eight from the House of Representatives.
“Others are 23 petitions from the State House of Assembly elections,” he said.
It is gathered that the tribunal also received one petition filed by Ese Gerald Umoh, the PDP House of Assembly candidate for Essein Udim State Constituency, against his opponent, Nse Ntuen of APC.
No date has been fixed for the tribunal to begin its sitting.
