The commissioner for Labour and Manpower Planning, Prof. Victor Daniel Inoka, has reiterated the state Government’s readiness to partner Sterling Oil Global Company in the provision of jobs for the citizenry in the oil and gas sector.
Speaking during a familiarisation tour to the company in Iko Town, Eastern Obolo local government area, Akwa Ibom, Inoka who is the immediate Commissioner for Education harped for synergy between the company and the state government to ease industrial harmony, job creation and training programmes among them.
He assured the company of the government’s commitment to providing the needed support, safety and peaceful environment to enable them succeed in their investments and programmes.
According to him, it is in pursuit of the industrialisation vision of the state, Governor Udom Emmanuel created the Ministry with the core mandate for human capacity development for the management of the envisaged industries for sustainability.
The Commissioner who was on a familiarisation tour of relevant establishments and organisations under his ministry was accompanied by Dr. (Mrs) Valerie Obot, the Permanent Secretary and directors.
Responding, Group Captain Etete Ekpo, rtd, the Company’s Security and Community Relations Manager, thanked the Commissioner for breaking the seeming barrier by visiting the company in the hinterland.
Ekpo said Sterling Oil Global was an oil and gas exploration company whose activities cut across 13 local government areas of the state is rural-based.
He announced that the company was going to embark on a vast number of projects and programmes in the oil and gas and other related areas that will transform the lives of the people and the host communities.
While soliciting government’s support, the security chief expressed the readiness of Sterling Oil Global to collaborate with the government and Ministry of Labour and Manpower Planning in the areas of employment, training and other corporate social responsibilities.
The Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Dr. Obot thanked the company’s management for the warm reception accorded them and the Commissioner for initiating a series of visits to various organisations that would help in realising the mandate of the ministry.
