The growing use of Instagram, an American photo and video-sharing social networking service owned by Facebook, by many is peaking globally.
One billion people are said to be using Instagram every month, Yasmina Al-Gannabi, an Audience Development Manager from Deutsche Welle, stated this on Thursday at the ongoing Social Media Week 2020 in Lagos.
“A total of 500 million people use Instagram stories every day. The gender mix of Instagram is pretty even- 52 per cent females and 48 per cent males. 63 per cent Instagram users log in at least once per day,” Al-Gannabi further said.
Speaking on the topic: Storytelling for Instagram in Africa, she said “Instagram users will spend an average of 28 minutes per day on the platform in 2020. Two million Instagram users will visit at least one business profile a day.”
The Audience Development Manager encouraged content developers and influencers to use female protagonists instead of males, noting that uniqueness, relevance, authenticity, consistency and collaboration make storytelling in Instagram successful.
To achieve effective storytelling, Al-Ghannabi stressed the need for influencers to use picture galleries, surprising moments, videos and explanatory pieces.
Commenting on what to post, she mentioned text, photos, boomerang, superzoom and focus.
