Hope is rising for the revitalization of the moribund Ibom E-library in Uyo, the capital of Nigeria’s Akwa Ibom State inaugurated on July 12, 2012.

This is as State Executive Council Wednesday, August 12 reached Public-Private Partnership agreement to manage the facility for optimal results.

The E-Library has a multi-functional Conference centre used for conferences and summits and also accommodates small startups as an incubation system.

Comrade Ini Ememobong, the State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, who stated this said “The Council approved Public-Private Partnership management structure for Ibom e-library for optimal utilisation and management of the facility for the good of Akwa Ibom State and its citizenry.”

This was part of resolutions reached by the State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Udom Emmanuel held at the Exco Chambers, Government House, Uyo.

Ememobong further announced that the council received the mid-year management report of Ibom Hotel and Golf Resort, Uyo, but directed for more aggressive business disposition in the best interest of the state.

On COVID-19, he said the council received a report of COVID-19 management statewide but sought increased observation and awareness for individuals to take responsibility in the pandemic fight.

Commenting on the 2019 promotion examinations for its personnel on Grade Level 7 and above in the State Civil Service, the Information boss said the State Government has ordered a fresh process for the promotion examinations.

According to him, the decision became necessary following a review of report submitted to the Council on the recently concluded 2019 promotion interview and the need to ensure fairness and greater inclusivity.

Announcing the cancellation of all previous examinations, Ememobong said “Council received a report on the 2019 promotion interview for personnel in the State Civil Service from Grade Level 7 and above.

“The Council reviewed that report and ordered a fresh interview process to allow for greater inclusivity and to allow for people of equal grades and standards to be tested on the same parameter.

“The Council went further to set a deadline that every process of that promotion interview must finish before October 1, 2020 to avoid people losing benefits,” he pointed out.
