Uyo Book Club in Akwa Ibom State has concluded arrangements to celebrate Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka, a playwright, novelist and poet on Saturday, July 31.
The session which will feature the 87th birthday of the Nobel Laureate will centre discussions on the life, works and times of Professor Soyinka.
The event which will start at 4.30 p.m. holds at Shakespeare Room, Watbridge Hotels & Suites, IBB Way, Uyo.
Professor Patrick Ebewo, the Vice Chancellor of Topfaith University, Mkpatak in Essien Udim who did his PH.D dissertation on the works of Soyinka will present a key paper.
Born on July 13, 1934 at Abeokuta, near Ibadan in South West Nigeria, the Nobel Laureate is the author of Kongi Harvest, The Swamp Dwellers, The Lion and the Jewel, The Trial of Brother Jero, Jero’s Metamorphosis, The Interpreters, and The Man Died: Prison Note, among others.
Book lovers and the general public are highly invited to the session.
