The Sole Administrator and Chief Executive Officer of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Mr. Effiong Akwa has again been given a pat on the back for effectively representing Akwa Ibom State and Okobo local Government Area in his national assignment.

The President of Okobo Women Association in Uyo, Mrs. Eme Atakpo made the commendation while fielding questions from our reporter on her assessment of Mr. Akwa’s performance so far.

She said Okobo women and indeed Okobo people were proud to identify with Mr. Akwa who has been able to redirect the energies and focus of the stakeholders in the Niger Delta Region from crises-prone activities through subtle consultations, engagements and effective management to positive development with tangible results.

Mrs. Atakpo, also President, Friends of the Needy Org., FONO and a retired Director of Akwa Ibom Broadcasting Corporation, AKBC was particularly thrilled by the way and manner the Sole Administrator has strategically brought the stakeholders to collaborate peacefully and reason together with the management of the Commission, a development which has created an enabling environment for progress to thrive, for the benefit of the people of the region.

Making Biblical allusion, “See a man diligent in his work, he shall stand with Kings; he shall not stand before mean men,” Mrs. Atakpo thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for giving their son the opportunity to serve in his administration and the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio for not allowing himself to be distracted from his firm belief in Mr. Akwa’s ability to perform maximally.

She used the opportunity to congratulate the Sole Administrator on the rapid progress the commission has recorded under him, particularly the prompt completion and delivery of the NDDC Headquarters Complex and the just-commissioned Special Protection Unit Base 6 Barracks for Police Force in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, as well as the restoration of peace in the region.

Reacting to a question about her views on the spate of violence, insecurity, injustice and poverty in the country, Mrs. Atakpo was optimistic that the avoidable incidents were only a phase in the history of Nigeria and would pass away at God’s appointed time, after all evil has never triumphed over good.

On Nigeria’s 61st independence anniversary, the Crusader for the welfare of the down-trodden encouraged Nigerians not to lose hope in their father land but to join forces in words and in deeds to restore justice, fairness, peace and love to all, adding Nigeria still has all it takes to stand tall again.
