A popular Nigerian pastor said he has stopped hanging out with some men of God because of what they think constitute the success of a crusade.
Crusade is a religious meeting usually organised by Pentecostal churches to harvest souls for Jesus.
Dr. Abel Damina, the senior Pastor of Power City International Church, Uyo in Akwa Ibom State stated this in a series of Biblical teaching broadcast by Xcel FM Radio, Uyo on Tuesday.
”I have stopped hanging out with men of God. I was hanging out with a man of God and he told me three things that make a successful crusade.’’
According to him, he mentioned the size of crowd, the amount of offering and comfort in flight and hotel accommodation. I was shocked hearing this from a man of God who is supposed to use the avenue for evangelism – winning non-believers for Jesus talking about secular things.
”There will be surprises in Heaven. There are some who measure success of their ministry by the material things by what they have achieved. Owing to this, some become afraid of insecurity in the society and think of what to do for physical protection.
”For example, a man of God drives in limousine guarded by a coterie of soldiers and policemen. What is the difference between this man of God and the Nollywood actor or actress?
”Again, how can a man of God be talking about money, money, money? Anytime money becomes your motivation, it corrupts your teaching. Money is a bad and terrible master. Money is and should not be a motivation.
”He uses wealth to measure the success of a ministry. Owing to this a young minister wants to emulate his mentor and use the same tactics to make it. He goes to juju priest to collect charm for hypnotism. Yet, he stays in the city and will tell another person that he sees everything about him in the village. What is he doing in the village? Shame!”
