Nigeria’s former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, is a holder of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.d) in Christian Theology.
Obasanjo got the degree from the Department of Religious Studies, Faculty of Arts, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Abeokuta Study Centre, Ogun State with a Ph.d thesis entitled: Resolving the Unfinished Agenda in Liberation Theology: Leadership, Poverty And Under-development In North Eastern Nigeria.
After spending 163 minutes defending his dissertation, Obasanjo was recommended for the qualification by a six-man external panel.
The panelists were Dr. Mande Samaila (Dean, Postgraduate School, NOUN) as Chairman, Prof. Cletus Gotan (External Supervisor), Prof. Deji Ayegboyin (Major Supervisor), Mustapha Raheem Adejoro, (Head of Department, Religious Studies (NOUN) and Prof. Nebath Tanglang (Representative, School of Postgraduate Studies, NOUN) and Prof. Godwin Akper (Internal Supervisor and Dean, Faculty of Arts, NOUN).
