As the world marks Good Friday, President Bola Tinubu, Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki and Afam Osigwe have greeted Christian faithful on the event which is a sacrament of the Holy Week.
Good Friday is the Christian day to commemorate the crucifixion of Jesus and His death at Calvary.
President Bola Tinubu joined the Christian faithful to commemorate Easter, a significant moment and glorious celebration of the triumph of life over death.
This is contained in a statement by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, on Friday in Abuja.
He said the President greeted Christians in Nigeria and around the world on this occasion, emphasising love, sacrifice, and compassion as the patent themes of this solemn season.
Ngelale said that Tinubu noted the sacrifice of Jesus Christ for humanity as a lesson for leaders and Nigerians to yield to selflessness and compassion and be steadfast in the pursuit of a united, peaceful, and prosperous nation.

He said the President commended Nigerians for the sacrifices they made in the past few months for the nation to be steered to the path of recovery and sustainable growth.
”The President is assuring Nigerians that the seeds of patience which they have sown are beginning to sprout and will in no time, bring forth an abundance of good fruits.
”As Christians celebrate the victory of life over death as exemplified by the resurrection of Christ, President Tinubu assures all citizens that Nigeria will triumph over its challenges as his administration remains firmly committed to this end,” Ngelale said.
Also, Godwin Obaseki, Edo State Governor in his X (formerly Twitter) handle stated ‘‘I celebrate with our Christian brothers and sisters as we mark Good Friday, a remembrance of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on Calvary for the redemption of mankind.
”I urge everyone to, in the spirit of the season, reflect on the significance of this day by imbibing the virtues of sacrifice, love, tolerance and selflessness. There is no better time to show this than now when we are faced with dire economic conditions which have put many in distress.
”As we celebrate this year’s Good Friday, we must remember to be our brothers’ keeper and look out for each other at this difficult time, while remaining resolute in our love for God and our nation.
”On behalf of the government of Edo State, I wish all our Christian brothers and sisters a blessed and peaceful Good Friday. His Excellency, Godwin Obaseki, Governor, Edo State,’’ Obaseki wrote.
Similarly, Afam Osigwe, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, in his X handle wrote ‘‘Dear Colleagues, As we reflect on the solemn significance of Good Friday, may we find strength in the values of justice, compassion, and unity that bind us together as legal professionals.
”Let us remember the sacrifices made for the greater good and recommit ourselves to upholding the principles of fairness and integrity in our noble profession. In this season of reflection and renewal, may we draw inspiration from the teachings of humility and service, and may our actions honour the legacy of those who have paved the way before us. Wishing you and your loved ones a blessed Good Friday and a meaningful Easter weekend.”
