Three students of University of Calabar, UNICAL, in Cross River State, recently kidnapped two weeks ago, have breathed fresh air of freedom.

Straightnews reported that gunmen stormed Freedom Hostel, owned by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on Friday night, March 29, 2024, and whisked the victims away to an unknown destination.

A statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the institution, Effiong Eyo, on Friday, April 12, 2024, noted that the students, Ojang Precious Ebejin, Ugwu Chukwuemeka and Damilola Dickson, were released unharmed and have been re-united with their parents.

The statement further noted that the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Florence Obi, who received the students in her office on Friday, thanked security agencies in the state for their collaboration and sustained efforts that led to the release of the students.
