Two Directors in the Akwa Ibom Ministry of Information are among the 12 new Permanent Secretaries appointed by the state government.
They are Mrs Grace Monday Akpan, Director of Public Relations and Edet A. Nsungwara, Director of Technical Services in the ministry.
Mrs Akpan hails from Abak Local Government Area while Nsugwara comes from Urue Offong-Oruko Local Government Area of the state.

This was contained in a public service announcement signed by Elder Effiong Essien, Head of Civil Service dated April 26, 2024 and entitled: Appointment of Permanent Secretaries.
According the statement, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, has approved the appointment of the following Officers as Permanent Secretaries in the Akwa Ibom State Civil Service.
Other permanent secretaries include Emma Tom Udonsek, Dr Emmanuel U. Iton, Ignatius Anthony Ekwere, Elsie Anietie Peters and Dr. Igbemi A. Igbemi.
The rest are Dr. John Aloysius Orok, Dr. Abraham Ikpong Inyangudoh, Rose Edet Stephen, Affiong Ekpenyong Ebieme and Dr. Friday Sunday Ido.
‘‘The swearing in of the appointees will be performed by His Excellency, Pastor Umo Bassey, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, on Monday, 29th April,2024,’’ the statement adds.
Speaking with Straightnews on Saturday, April 27, Mrs Grace Akpan thanked God Almighty for the elevation, and the Information Commissioner and Permanent Secretary for their support and cooperation that culminated in her appointment.
‘‘It is the desire of every civil servant to rise to the peak of his or her profession. Having risen to this peak, I thank God. I will contribute my quota to building a strong and virile civil service. Through my experience in the service, I will make positive impacts in adding value to Pastor Umo Eno Administration.’’
Also speaking with Straightnews on Saturday, Mr. Nsungwara who attributed his elevation to God pledged to write strong memos and to join hands with his Commissioner in implementing government policies and programmes.
Nsungwara used the forum to thank the state Commissioner for Information, Comrade Ini Ememobong and the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mr. James Edet for their encouragement and support to him.
