    Devil made me to sleep with my daughter- Pastor confesses

    One Louis Akpojotor Mevoweoyo, a pastor residing in Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State accused of alleged defilement of his daughter (name withheld), has blamed the devil for the ‘sin.’

    Pastor Mevoweoyo from Ughelli North of Delta State was among the suspects paraded by the Akwa Ibom Police command at the State Police Headquarters, Ikot Akpan Abia in Uyo Local Government Area of the state on Monday, January 20.

    In an interview with Straightnews, the beleaguered suspect who spoke in muted voice bowed his head in shame for committing incest with his 12-year-old daughter then now 14 years old.

    However, the self-styled Pastor refused to mention the name of his Church to Straightnews.

    Earlier while addressing the press, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, had said from investigations, the suspect started committing the crime when his daughter was 12 years old.

    The police spokesperson said, “We have arrested one Louis Akpojotor Mevoweoyo, a pastor from Ughelli North LGA, residing in Ibiono Ibom, for defiling his daughter (name withheld).

    “Investigations revealed that the suspect had been sexually assaulting the victim since she was 12 years old, with the latest incident occurring in December 2024.”

    Similarly, she stated that ‘‘On credible intelligence, operatives of the command arrested one Daniel Effiong Umoh a.k.a. Akaka ‘m’, aged 32, of Abak Itenghe, Abak LGA, for defiling a girl (name withheld).

    The suspect, armed with a machete, attacked and dragged the victim into the bush, ‘‘ he forcefully had unlawful carnal knowledge of her. Investigations revealed a history of sexual assault by the suspect on other teenage girls. He will not escape the full weight of the law.

    According to her, ‘‘On 14/01/2025, operatives arrested one Nsongurua Etim Okon ‘m’ (28 years), one Godspower Effiom Etim ‘m’ (46 years), and one Etieyen Joseph Bassey ‘m’ (34 years), all from Ekamba Nsukara Offot Village in Uyo LGA. A thorough search was conducted on them.

    ‘‘Items received included: one locally made pistol and a jackknife. During interrogation, the suspects confessed to belonging to the Italian Mafia Secret Cult Confraternity. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend one Udo ‘m’ (other names unknown), identified as the gang’s armourer.

    ‘‘Investigations is in progress to arrest more suspects and recover their arms.’’

    On vandalism and stealing, the PPRO stated that ‘‘Operatives arrested one Samuel Udo Jack ‘m’, Israel Peter Udobia ‘m’, Ndifreke Ndak Umoh ‘m’, and Benjamin Samuel Udo ‘m’, all of Ibotio Village in Mkpat Enin LGA, for vandalising a transformer belonging to the community.

    ‘‘One fuse was recovered while other suspects escaped with armored cables and other vital components. The arrested suspects will face justice along side the others at large.’’

    ‘‘The Akwa Ibom State Police Command remains resolute in its zero tolerance for crime. We remind the public that mob actions are illegal and will not be condoned. We urge residents to report suspicious activities and trust the Police to handle such matters professionally.

    ”The police are not magicians, incidents must be reported before they can attend to it .Let me reassure all law-abiding citizens that the Police in the State, under the watchful eyes of CP Baba Mohammed Azare, fsi, are here to protect you and serve you better,’’ she assured.
