A returnee professor of Econometrics who incurred the wrath of police for allegedly operating an illegal organisation in Nigeria, has been paraded, the Force Headquarters has confirmed.

Brimmy Olaghere, a returnee US-based university don was alleged to have duped many unsuspecting jobless Nigerians under the pretext of giving them job in the organisation he established in United African States, USA with head office in Abuja.

Parading the suspects in Abuja, Jimoh Moshood, the Force Public Relations Officer, said the force through credible information at its disposal, revealed that the organisation was among several others that “have started acquiring weapons and conducting covert military training and recruiting unsuspecting Nigerians and extorting money from them.”

Jimoh said the organisation extorted money from unsuspecting Nigerians, noting that the leadership of the organisation and other people facilitating the commission of the offence had been arrested and currently under investigation and would be charged to court on completion.

He informed that the force had received over 150 complaints from Nigerians to clampdown on the illegal security outfits operating across the country, stressing that one of the suspect Ezekiel K. Dama, was assigned as the commissioner of police in charge of Land Marine.

The image maker said: “Credible intelligence report at the disposal of the force revealed that some of this illegal security outfits have started acquiring weapons and conducting covert military training and recruiting unsuspecting Nigerians especially children and wards and extorting money from them. This is part of the group we are parading Thursday.
It is evident that in 2013 Federal Republic of Nigeria official gazette dissolved and proscribed illegal security outfits such as Nigerian Maritime Security Agency, Nigerian Merchant Navy Corps and the Nigerian Merchant Navy Petroleum Security and Safety and other quasi illegal security outfits such as a group that we have before us today who are an illegal organisation known under the name of United African States (UAS) with an affiliate security outfits the Land Marine Police Force and operated by one Prof. Brimmy A.U. Olagbere, the Executive President of the organisation.

“The organisation office located at  6 Ubiaja crescent, Garki II Abuja has been operating for more than a year and the office has been shut down by the police force because the building itself is an exhibit for which investigation is going further into all their nefarious activities. Their conducts equally constitute a criminal act and equally an embarrassment to the Nigeria police force and other security and sister agency that have the responsibility to ensure the protection of lives and property.

“It is an equally an embarrassment to the nation Nigeria because it is important for people to note that we have the African Union and for an organisation to come up in Nigeria and start calling them themselves United African States.

“We want to appeal to parents and guardians to advise and prevail on their children and wards who must have been recruited innocently by this organization to return home and ensure that they report to the nearest police station any complaint that has to do with extortion and illegal recruitment as it is being done,” he said.
