Palpable fear is gripping relations of 20 passengers abducted by suspected sea pirates on board the boat of Akwa-Cross Transport Company on Good Friday.
The boat that ferried the passengers mainly traders and holiday makers via Cross River was said to have left Oron for Calabar, the Cross River capital, Straightnews online has gathered.
A relation to one of the victims who confided in Straightnews said the passengers were seized by the suspected armed men in the middle of the sea said ‘‘I am living in fear over the safety of the victims.’’

It is gathered that the suspected sea pirates hijacked the boat mid sea and guided it to an unknown destination.
According to her, a relation to a staffer of Akwa Ibom Broadcasting Corporation (AKBC), Television Service, Uyo is affected.
‘‘A relation to a staffer of Advocate Broadcasting Networth (ADBN), Uyo is equally affected,’’ the source told the online.
The source told Straightnews that the suspected militants called one of the relations of the kidnap victims, demanding payment of N100 million ransom.
Responding to enquiry of Straightnews, the Spokesperson of Akwa Ibom State Police Command, DSP Timfon John said ”The incident happened in Calabar waterways. However, we are collaborating to get the people involved released unhurt.”
