Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested and intends to arraign a 38-year-old man before court for alleged unlawful possession of a firearm, threat to life, and possession of suspected illicit substances.
A press release signed by DSP Timfon John, Police Public Relations Officer for Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Police Command on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, said the command arrested one Blessing Ime Abel (Male), aged 38 years, of Ikot Akpa Ntuen Village, Ukanafun Local Government Area, for the suspected crimes
The release said ‘‘The arrest followed a report by one Emekpo (Male) who reported a case of threatening violence.
‘‘Acting on the report, operatives of the Command swiftly mobilized and apprehended the suspect. During a search, the suspect was found in possession of one locally made pistol, one live cartridge, and substances suspected to be illicit drugs.’’

According to it, ‘‘The suspect is currently in police custody, while investigation is ongoing to ascertain the source of the firearm and the full extent of the suspect’s activities. Upon conclusion of investigation, the suspect will be charged to court accordingly.’’
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Command, CP Baba Mohammed Azare fsi, reiterates the Command’s zero tolerance for crimes involving firearms and threats to public safety, and assures residents of the Command’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property across the State.
