Capital Portfolio & Investment Systems (CAPIS) Limited has introduced the CAPIS Commonwealth Card (3C), a platform access service designed to connect eligible individuals with commercial project opportunities and structured financing pathways across key sectors of the Nigerian economy.
Operating under the tagline, “Your Passcard to Economic Participation,” the initiative aims to provide a structured route for individuals seeking to participate in qualifying ventures across agriculture, renewable energy, transportation, technology, commercial infrastructure and other productive sectors.
According to the company, the Individual Plan is available to eligible clients for a one-time fee of ₦35,000 and provides platform access alongside a financing voucher of up to ₦30 million, subject to applicable terms, conditions and approval requirements.
CAPIS clarified that the financing voucher does not represent cash deposited directly into a participant’s bank account. Instead, it represents financing capacity intended to support participation in qualifying commercial projects available through the platform.
The company further emphasised that purchasing the card or obtaining access to a financing voucher does not automatically guarantee financing approval, project selection, commercial participation or income.
Two Pathways to Commercial Financing
The CAPIS Commonwealth Card platform offers two principal pathways: Commercial Project Bidding and Contract Financing.
Under the Commercial Project Bidding pathway, participants can identify qualifying projects, review their requirements and commercial terms, and submit bids through the platform. Submitted bids are evaluated against applicable selection criteria, which may include enrolment seniority, bid timing and project-specific requirements.
Where a bid is accepted and all relevant conditions are satisfied, CAPIS facilitates the applicable financing arrangements to support the participant’s involvement in the selected project.
The company said this process is designed to create a structured link between prospective participants and commercial opportunities, covering project identification, bidding, financing facilitation and eventual participation.
The Contract Financing pathway, meanwhile, is intended for clients seeking financing opportunities associated with qualifying contracts. This option operates alongside Commercial Project Bidding and is designed to accommodate financing needs that are better suited to contract-related opportunities.
CAPIS advised prospective participants to assess the requirements, obligations and risks associated with each pathway before committing to a particular option.
How Potential Earnings Are Determined
According to CAPIS, potential earnings depend on the performance of the underlying commercial project and the contractual terms governing each participant’s involvement.
Where a qualifying project generates a commercial surplus, participants may be entitled to applicable distributions in line with the project’s agreed distribution ratio and other relevant contractual provisions.
The company stressed that the financing voucher itself does not generate income. Any potential financial return is linked to the performance of the relevant commercial activity and remains subject to operational, market and other business risks.
Consequently, participants should review the commercial terms, understand the basis for any projected returns and assess the possibility of financial loss before proceeding with a project.
Additional Benefits of the Commonwealth Card
Beyond access to commercial project opportunities and financing pathways, the CAPIS Commonwealth Card ecosystem is designed to offer eligible clients additional benefits.
These include health coverage, a Zenith Bank-powered electronic wallet and virtual card, and discounts of up to 10 per cent at participating partner outlets.
CAPIS stated that access to these benefits, including eligibility conditions, coverage limits and the scope of available services, is governed by the relevant programme terms and arrangements with participating service providers.
Prospective cardholders are therefore encouraged to confirm the specific benefits available to them and review any applicable limitations before enrolment.
CAPIS and Its Approach to Economic Participation
CAPIS Limited describes itself as a Nigerian financial services company registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Nigeria as a Venture Capital Manager.
Through the Commonwealth Card initiative, the company says it aims to develop structured pathways connecting individuals with qualifying commercial activities across productive sectors of the Nigerian economy.
The introduction of the platform comes amid continuing interest in alternative financing arrangements and initiatives seeking to broaden participation in commercial ventures.
However, prospective participants should distinguish between platform access, eligibility for financing and actual participation in a funded project. These are separate stages, each potentially subject to its own requirements, approvals and contractual obligations.
Before enrolling, individuals should independently verify the company’s regulatory status, review the applicable programme documentation, confirm all fees and financing conditions, and understand the rights and obligations attached to each participation pathway.
Ultimately, the value of the CAPIS Commonwealth Card will depend on the accessibility and quality of the opportunities available, the transparency of its financing processes, the enforceability of its contractual arrangements and the commercial performance of participating projects.
