Senator Dino Melaye, APC Senator representing Kogi West says he has just been arrested at Abuja’s International Airport.

According to a tweet, the Senator posted on his Twitter account Monday morning, he said:

“I have just been arrested at the international wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe airport on my way to Morocco for an official engagement sponsored by the Federal Govt after checking in.”

Details and circumstances surrounding Melaye’s arrest are foggy.

Before now, the Kogi State Police Command had in March 2018 declared the Senator wanted.

This followed confirmation of the escape from custody of two suspects arrested and paraded last week by the police for allegedly working for Melaye and the son of a former governor of Kogi State, Mohammed Audu.

It was learnt that the suspects that indicted Senator Melaye included Kabiru Seidu aka Osama and Nuhu Salisu aka Small who had been re-arrested by the police.

Addressing newsmen on Wednesday in Lokoja, the state capital, the Commissioner of Police, Ali Janga said the duo have been placed on Interpol watchlist.

“The Nigeria Police Force, Kogi state police command 28th March 2018 received a news that six suspected criminal elements namely; Kabiru Seidu a.k.a Osama, Nuhu Salisu a.k.a Small, Aliyu Isa, Adams Suleiman, Emmanuel Audu and Musa Mohammed who were under detention at the ‘A’ Division Lokoja escaped from lawful custody,” the statement read.
