The All Progressives Congress stakeholders in Akwa Ibom State have stated that the State Government has so far collected N289.2 billion being refunds from the Federal Government.

Though Akwa Ibom government has not refuted the story, Straightnews feelers show that President Muhammadu Buhari administration made the refunds to Governor Udom Emmanuel administration which came took over the reins of governance from 2015 till date.

The 150 APC stakeholders who stated this after their meeting at the residence of their Chairman, Atuekong Don Etiebet at Ewet Housing Estate, Uyo on Friday, February 5, said N78 billion was refunded to Akwa Ibom Government being the money it spent on the reconstruction of Federal Roads in the state.

According to them, the Federal government also refunded N171.2 billion to the Akwa Ibom government in respect of Excess Crude Account and more than N40 billion being Paris Club  to the Akwa Ibom State government.

Investigation by Straightnews reveals that ex-Governor Godswill Akpabio who ruled from 2007 to 2015 built the Federal roads while Akwa Ibom Government benefitted from Paris Club based on deductions made by Federal Government from the state allocation during the era of Obong Victor Attah.
