The factional Chairman of the Edo State All Progressives Congress, APC, David Imuse, and the chairman of the Osagie Ize-Iyamu campaign council in the September 19 Edo governorship election, John Mayaki, have been dragged before a Benin City High Court.
The Akwa Ibom State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mike Igini, who is suing them is demanding N10 billion over alleged libel.
Igini also demanded a full-page unreserved apology, to be published by the two people, in every edition of The Punch Newspapers, Tribune, Guardian, and Sun Newspapers for seven consecutive times.
He wants the public apology to commence not later than seven days after the judgement of the case.
Igini through his counsel, said the APC factional chairman and the chairman, Edo State APC Media Campaign Council, on August 30, 2020, during the just-concluded governorship election campaigns, and addressed journalists at a press conference on Governor Godwin Obaseki’s criminal attempt to infiltrate the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, through officers like Mike Igini in Auchi in Etsako West local government area.
The Akwa Ibom INEC boss has, however, denied all the allegations leveled against him at the press conference.
