The Labour Party in Akwa Ibom State has distanced itself from a group endorsing governorship or any other candidate of another political party in Akwa Ibom State.
A press release signed by Captain Augustine Okon, Director-General of Peter Obi Presidential Campaign Council in Akwa Ibom State on Friday described groups parading as Obi-Datti group in Akwa Ibom State as faceless.
‘‘Neither the PCC nor Labor Party has mandated anyone to endorse any candidate outside ones presented by The Labour Party for election.

Okon accused the groups of going about to line their pockets, and enjoined electorate and the public to be wary of them.
According to him, ‘‘The attention of the Peter Obi Presidential Campaign Council has been, once again, drawn to yet another endorsement of a gubernatorial candidate outside the Labour Party by a faceless group parading itself as Obi-Datti group in Akwa Ibom State.
‘‘The Presidential Campaign Council wishes to state, for the umpteenth time, that such a group is not known nor represents the Council.
He noted ‘‘Much as we recognize the freedom of individuals to align, realign and support any candidate of their choice, we take exception to the use of The Obi-Datti group, which is led by the Presidential Campaign Council, to indulge in any unholy alliance not approved by the PCC.
‘‘As already known, the Obi-Datti group has emptied itself into the Labour Party and has been instructed by our principal, His Excellency, Mr Peter Obi, to join hands with all Labour Party candidates across the 36 States to ensure victory at all levels of the 2023 elections.’’
‘‘In Akwa Ibom State, Labour Party has chosen a governorship candidate, a gentleman, young and energetic, Uduakobong Peter Udoh, devoid of any garbage in the pack. He is the face of the desired change the state requires,’’ the PCC Chairman pointed out.
He, therefore, enjoined ‘‘every Akwa Ibomite, who truly desires positive change, to queue behind the Labour Party governorship candidate and every other candidate for the House of Assembly and vote them en masse.’’
