Akwa United on Sunday deepened the woes of relegation-bound Gombe United which fell 2-0 to the host.
The state darling team thrashed the visiting Gombe United at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.
The first goal was converted through a penalty in the 79th minute of the explosive encounter.
The last goal was scored in the dying minute of the second half.
By this defeat, Akwa Ibom United have climbed to the top of Group B of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) log by garnering 25 points in the match 14.
In the first encounter of this football season, Akwa United and Gombe United shared a point by playing 2-2 draw.
So far, Gombe United occupy the 11th position in the group with 14 points.
In the match 14, El Kanemi Warriors are placed second still with 25 points while Ifeanyi Ubah are third on the NPFL log with 24 points.
