A decline in the pumping ability of an older person’s heart can lower blood flow to their brain’s memory center, new research has found. The study involved 314 people, who averaged 73 years old and did not have heart failure, stroke or dementia. Nearly 40 percent of them had mild cognitive impairment, which increases the risk for dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease. All participants underwent tests to determine how much blood their heart pumped relative to their body size. They also had MRI scans to assess blood flow in the brain. The College of Administrative and Business Studies (CABS), Potiskum, Yobe State, has expelled 16 students who were allegedly caught for examination malpractice during the first semester of 2017/2018 academic session. Mallam Musa Auta, the Rector of the institution, insisted that no amount of threat would make the institution to reverse expulsion of the students. “We will not pardon them. The Nigeria Army says it lost three soldiers after successfully clearing 13 Boko Haram hideouts in the Sambisa Forest in one week. Col. A 30-year-old robbery suspect and father of five was weekend disarmed and arrested by his victims during a robbery operation at Abua Mbagwen in Buruku Local Government area of Benue State. Two suspected ritualists have been arrested by men of Ogun State Command of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria with the corpse of a 17-year-old girl. The Senate said it was set to publish names of companies found culpable in an alleged N30 trillion revenue scam in the import and export value chain. The Senate has rejected court’s ruling to lift the six-month suspension slammed on Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume representing Borno South Senatorial District. The Federal High Court in Abuja presided over by Justice Babatunde Quadri had last Friday ordered the Senate to reinstate Senator Ndume and pay his outstanding entitlements. Three persons who vandalised armoured cables worth N77,000 from a transformer at Ndon Ebom and Ekpene Ukim in Uruan Local Government Area arrested by Akwa Ibom Police Command have been remanded in prison custody.
