A three-member gang responsible for a series of bank robberies in the state has been smashed by Akwa Ibom Police Command. Hycent Loveday Bright, one of the three-member gang paraded by the Akwa Ibom police command, denied hanging around banks before robbing customers that he normally enters the bank, pick up tellers, fill them while monitoring those withdrawing huge sums. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Monday, accused Department of State Service of shielding its officials implicated in the $2.1 billion arms scandal from probe. In a statement in Abuja, signed by its spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, EFCC regretted that all other security agencies: Nigerian Army, the Nigerian Air force and the Nigerian Navy have all complied with its request and released officers indicted in the arms probe report except the DSS. Four female suicide bombers were Monday killed when they tried to sneak into Maiduguri metropolis, Borno state Police command has said. Victor Isuku, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, who confirmed the incident, said the incident occurred at about 8:30 a.m. in Tomsu Ngamdu community on the outskirts of Maiduguri. The Federal High Court in Abuja has deferred the arraignment of Senator Isah Misau on an amended 10-count forgery charge to December 12 owing to Federal Government’s defective charge. A 34-year-old real estate agent, who allegedly stole N256,000 from a police inspector, was Monday arraigned before an Igbosere Magistrate Court, Lagos. The defendant, Michael Komolafe, whose residential address was not given, is facing a one-count charge of stealing preferred against him by the police. Five men, who allegedly damaged the windscreen of a Police Patrol vehicle, were Monday charged before a Lagos Magistrate Court sitting at Igbosere.
