Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) is to pay Nigeria $12 million for participation in the World Cup Russia 2018. In FIFA.com official release, Nigeria would collect $2 million for preparation for the World Cup and $10 million to appear in the Group stage of the competition. This amount shows an increase of $500,000 against $1.5 million given in 2014 World Cup for preparation by each participating country and $8 million for appearing in the group stage. The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), has installed 88,000 meters and plans to install 120,000 more by December 2017 to address customers’ complaints on estimated billing. Engr. Fifteen persons suspected to be in connection with the spate of killings and kidnappings in Etim Ekpo and Ukanafun Local Government Areas of the state have been apprehended by Akwa Ibom Police Command. A two-year-old boy from Yandaki town, Kaita Local Government Area of Katsina State, has died after his stepmother allegedly bathed him with hot water. The 21-year-old stepmother, Samsiya, who bathed the boy, Ahmed with hot water, is in police net. More than N30 billion looted funds have been recovered by Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), since the commencement of the whistle-blowing policy. The Nigerian Senate Thursday approved death sentence for any person who engages in abduction, wrongful restraint or confinement for ransom of another person. The bill sponsored by Senator Isa Misau, was passed into law after a consideration of the report by Senate committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters also approved a 30-year jail term for anybody who colludes with an abductor.
