Bundesliga giant, Bayern Munich has named Jupp Heynckes as head coach until the end of the 2017/18 season following the sack of Carlo Ancelotti last week. The German champion made the announcement on their website on Thursday. Akwa Ibom State Governor, Emmanuel Udom, has redeemed his pledge of 10,000 dollars per goal for the matches against Cameroon to the Super Eagles, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed Thursday in Abuja. Activities of University of Uyo Teaching Hospital, Uyo have been temporarily paralysed following prolonged strike by members of the hospital’s Joint Health Sector Unions and Assembly of Healthcare Professionals, JOHESU. As part of moves to scrap the post-Unified Matriculation Examination, the Senate Monday mandated its Committee on Tertiary Education to meet with relevant stakeholders, especially the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to come up with recommendations on how to achieve its set goal. The move, according to the Senate, has become imperative because of the introduction of the post – UME examination, which to a large extent, has failed to remedy the problems associated with the JAMB. No fewer than 700 medical doctors leave the country every year for greener pastures, Medical and Dental Consultants’ Association of Nigeria (MDCAN) has said. A statement made available to Daily Post in Calabar said “Nigeria is presently far behind the World Health Organization (WHO) recommended doctor to population ratio, with 35, 000 doctors practising in a country with a population of more than 170 million people. Suspected hoodlums in Calabar, Cross River State capital chopped off a lady’s hand, while trying to snatch her handbag on the pedestrian bridge along Marian Road. The lady (name withheld) is recuperating in a private hospital, and was said to be coming from the Marian Market, where she went to buy some household items.
