Akwa Ibom State is among the 20 Nigerian states, the British government has sent out a travel advisory to its citizens to avoid visiting during this Yuletide period. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) advised its citizens against travelling to Borno, Yobe, Adamawa, Gombe, riverine areas of Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers and Cross River States as well as within 20km of the border with Niger in Zamfara State. The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has won the local elections in all the 31 local government areas in Akwa Ibom State. The election was conducted on Saturday. A statement on Sunday signed by Aniedi Ikoiwak, Chairman of Akwa Ibom State Independent Electoral Commission, AKISIEC, said the party also won all the 329 councillorship seats in the state. “This statement confirms the announcement/declarations made by the authorised Returning Officers in various Wards and Local Government Areas,” the statement said. The 11 governors elected under Peoples Democratic Party are among members of the different committees set by PDP national leadership to organise the party’s December 9 national convention in Abuja. Announcing this Friday in Abuja, Senator Abdul Ningi, the National Organising Secretary, said the 14 committees are made up of 1,706 members. Nigerians living in Libya are said to be selling their fellow countrymen to Libyan nationals as slaves, returnees from Libya have confirmed. This revelation emerged as more Nigerians are repatriated by the International Organisation for Migration with the backing of the European Union in an on-going exercise that has seen 1,295 retrieved from Libya in November alone. Since the beginning of 2017, IOM facilitated repatriation of  5,578 Nigerian migrants, who were trapped in and outside prisons across Libya. Cleo Tao, who was the Head of Programmes at the private radio station, died at the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital, UUTH, Uyo after a brief sickness.
