The Inspector General of Police, IGP Adamu Muhammed, has ordered the restriction of vehicular movement between 6am and 6pm on Saturday, 16th February 2019. The Nigerian Army on Wednesday said its troops killed 11 Boko Haram members in a fresh attack coordinated by the insurgents at Madagali town, Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa. In a statement, Ado Isa, Deputy Director, Army Public Relations 7 Division, Sector 1 Operation Lafiya Dole, said the troops also destroyed and recovered high calibre ammunition and equipment from the insurgents. As the pressure on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to postpone the Saturday presidential and National Assembly elections in some states intensifies, the Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) on Thursday warned the commission not to consider postponing elections in Rivers and Zamfara States because of the internal crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress. The Kano Police Command says it has arrested two suspects in possession of 14 bags of fake specimen ballot papers in Kano metropolis, Kano State. The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Abdullahi Haruna, who confirmed this to newsmen in Kano on Thursday, said the suspects were apprehended around Metro Police Area Command. The Code of Conduct Tribunal, Wednesday, ordered the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Service (DSS) to arrest and arraign Justice Walter Onnoghen, the suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria for trial on Friday, February 15. The CCT chairman, Danladi Umar, having heard an application by the prosecuting counsel, Aliyu Umar, directed the Inspector-General of Police and the Director-General of the DSS to execute the arrest warrant. The Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to President Muhammadu Buhari, Malam Garba Shehu, has accused the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, of looting no less than N2.9 trillion from 2005 to 2015. The Nigerian Communications Commissions, NCC, has slammed N74 million fine on four major network operators in the country. They were said to have violated such regulations as quality of service, approval for promotions and advertisements, and sim registration in a controlled environment. A breakdown shows that MTN was asked to pay N5 million; Airtel- N20 million; Glo- N30 million and 9mobile- N5 million. The operators were only fined for sim registration infractions and unapproved promotions and advertisements as well as the failure to provide information on collapsed towers.
