Some unknown gunmen, Sunday, abducted the founder of Southern Atlantic Polytechnic, and proprietor of Akpabiosm Centre of Learning, Uyo in Akwa Ibom State. The gunmen reportedly kidnapped Pastor Bassey James from the Polytechnic premises along Victor Attah International Airport Road, Uyo at about 9 p.m. A source close to school said the gunmen came in a grey color Lexus jeep and shot severally into the air to scare away people. The Akwa Ibom state government has renamed the Ibom International Airport: Victor Attah International Airport. Mr Attah, widely revered as the “father of modern Akwa Ibom”, conceived and began the airport when he was governor from 1999 to 2007. Construction work of the aiport began in 2006 but was completed by Godswill Akpabio, the third democratically elected governor of the state, in 2009.
