The Akwa Ibom State Police Command and critical stakeholders from Etim Ekpo and Ukanafun local government areas rose from a security meeting Saturday to call for the establishment of joint patrol/crack teams with proper funding for effective operation. A Nigerian bank has offered 51 first class graduates of Gombe University an automatic employment. Mr. Herbert Wigwe, Managing Director, Chief Executive Officer of Access Bank Nigeria PLC, who received an Honorary Doctor of Administration award, said the bank was ready to engage the graduates if they accepted the offer. The Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has sent all members of the state executive council and all 21 local government administrators packing. The announcement was made by the governor at an on-going meeting he is holding with all political appointees at the Government House Lokoja, the state capital. A member of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) serving in Lagos State died Thursday after a train on Ikeja axis of the rail line hit her. Punch reports that while she was trying to walk across the rail track, Nneka Odili, the young woman, who wore head phones could not hear the horn of the train. Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna has expressed shock that some of the newly recruited teachers in the state could not write their own acceptance letters.
