The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has remitted N49.79 billion to the Federal Government Consolidated Revenue Fund (CRF) within the first four months of the year. The NCC said it was in compliance with the Fiscal Responsibility Act of 2007 (FRA 2007). Tony Ojobo, the Director of Public Affairs, NCC, in a statement, Thursday, said the figure represents “Payment on Account” in respect of operating surplus for the year 2018. Following the low level of mining exploration in the country, Akwa Ibom Governor, Udom Emmanuel has urged the Federal Government to remove the exploration of mineral resources from the 1999 Nigerian Constitution under Exclusive List and allow states to control the sector. A 65-year-old convict-turned police informant in Uyo local government area of Akwa Ibom State has been slain by unknown gunmen suspected to be cult members. The deceased, Raphael Udofia, was said to have been brutally shot and his head chopped off, leaving the police to recover his mangled body. A family source told our correspondent that Udofia had spent over 18 years in prison for killing his father, before returning to take up vigilante job in the area.
