A suspected ex-convict who has been parading himself as a military personnel will appear in a court following his arrest by operatives of Akwa Ibom Police Command. ‘Angry’ flood has claimed the life of a pensioner and destroyed properties worth millions of Naira in some parts of Uyo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, traumatizing many residents and devastating others psychologically. The deceased identified as Mr. Anselem Thomas Etuk, a retired Director in the state Ministry of Education, lost his life as a result of flooding at Ewet Housing Extension, Uyo. To ease tension in the political class, Akwa Ibom government on Tuesday announced October 26 for the election of Chairmen and councillors into the 31 local government areas of the state. Deceased Andrew Amechi Ochekwo, a businessman in Aba, Abia State, linked with the disappearance of Celine Ndudim and Afiba Tandoh, two ladies who went missing on April 27, 2024, is wanted in the United Kingdom (UK) for sexual assault. The Federal Government has instituted a legal action against the governors of the 36 states of the federation at the Supreme Court over alleged misconduct in the administration of local government councils. The suit filed by the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, is seeking full autonomy for all local government areas in the country.
