President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday condemned the “heinous and senseless” killing of a Lagos-based lawyer, Bolanle Raheem, by a trigger-happy Assistant Superintendent of Police, Drambi Vandi. Raheem was shot dead on Christmas Day by Vandi who was attached to Ajiwe Police Station in Ajah. The cop and his team were said to have tried to stop Raheem and her family members as they drove back home from a church service. Raheem was shot when the car she was in tried to make a U-turn under the Ajah Bridge. The victim was rushed to a hospital, but doctors confirmed her dead.…

The Court of Appeal, Abuja has reserved judgment in an appeal filed by the sacked Akwa Ibom governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Akanimo Udofia, against the judgement of a lower court. The three-member panel headed by Justice Elfreda Williams-Dawodu made this known after counsel to the appellant, Damian Dodo, SAN, and Senator Ita Enang’s lawyer, Mba Ukweni, SAN, adopted their briefs and presented their arguments for and against the appeal. The police have announced the arrest and detention of an officer who shot and killed a female lawyer, Omobolanle Raheem. Raheem was fatally shot by a police officer on Christmas Day in the Ajah area of Lagos. On Monday, the Lagos police spokesperson announced that the killer cop had been arrested.
