For six years, the 36 Nigerian states including Federal Capital Territory participated in the environmental index ratings, a report by Clean-up Nigeria (CUN) National Technical Study Group (NTSG) STONE 2023 PRO-MAX, shows. From 2018 to 2023 performance index ratings, Akwa Ibom State emerged the cleanest state in Nigeria for a sixth time in a row with other states trailing on waste management services, street/roads cleanliness, and vegetation/drainage control, among others. Federal High Court, Abuja has granted bail to an Akwa Ibom woman, Peace Ekom Robert, who was arrested and detained by police operatives for alleged fraudulent activities. Robert was charged alongside Ubong Udoh before the court presided over by Justice Emeka Nwite for publishing libelous things on social media against an unnamed police officer. Despite the recommencement of operation by Port Harcourt Refining Company in Rivers State, the Premium Motor Spirit, otherwise known as petrol price hike still remains, Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, said. The recommencement is coming in line with the Federal Government’s promise to ensure the production of refined products at the facility in December 2023. Akwa Ibom State Internal Revenue Service (AKIRS) ended a one-day strategy session with plans to generate a revenue of N60 billion to boost the state budget in 2024.  In 2022, Akwa Ibom State collected more than N35 billion Internally Generated Revenue, and was ranked 10th on the States’ IGR ranking table as published by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) in October 2023.
