Akwa Ibom Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has charged Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), to formulate monetary policies to stem galloping inflation to boost the country’s economy. Eno made the call Thursday when officials of CBN led by the Director of Branch Operations, Mrs Elizabeth Fasoranti, paid him a courtesy visit at Government House, Uyo. The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has ordered its standby force for possible action against the Niger Republic Junta, to restoring constitutional power in the country. The President of ECOWAS, Omar Alieu Touray, announced this decision while presenting the ECOWAS resolution regarding the recent coup in Niger during an extraordinary meeting held in Abuja on Thursday. Cooking gas consumers may face tough times as marketers under the auspices of Nigerian Association of Liquefied Petroleum Gas Marketers have alerted of plan to increase the price of the gas from next week. The Naira has extended its loss as the currency depreciated to N902 per Dollar on the black market. Figures from various Bureau de Change traders on Tuesday showed that the currency was priced between N900 and N902. The buying price was N898 to N900 depending on the operator, THE WHISTLER reports. Governor Umo Eno on Tuesday ordered the arrest of two excavators and a truck found at the excavation site along Idongesit Nkanga Avenue in Uyo, capital of Akwa Ibom State.
