A Cameroonian illegally detained in Uyo prison for three years by Akwa Ibom Police Command over a trump-up charge of kidnapping has been pardoned and freed. Mr Alexander Naseri Ebuka, a fisherman, was set free by the Akwa Ibom State Chief Judge, Justice Ekaete Obot while on inspection of Medium Security Custodial Centre, Uyo. A Nigerian Senator, Peter Nwaoboshi, was Friday sentenced by the Lagos Division of Court of Appeal to seven years imprisonment for money laundering. Nwaoboshi, who is the Senator representing Delta North Senatorial District at the National Assembly, is sentenced along with his two companies: Golden Touch Construction Project Ltd and Suiming Electrical Ltd. Two robbers found to be using tricycle to rob innocent members of the public in Uyo, Akwa Ibom capital have been sentenced to die by hanging. The robbers are a 35-year-old Donald John Obot, a barber from Nung Obong in Nsit Ubium Local Government Area and 36-year-old Blessing Christopher Utah, an ex-convict from Ibiaku Uruan in Uruan Local Government Area. Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, said he is still fasting and praying to hear from God if he should support the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, for the 2023 elections. A notorious international Nigerian fraudster has been convicted and sentenced by the Federal High Court, Uyo to 235 years imprisonment for internet fraud and money laundering. A statement by EFCC spokesperson, Wilson Uwajeren, said Scales Olatunji was arraigned on July 2, 2019 on 45-count charges bordering on identity theft, money laundering and conspiracy. The Federal High Court, Uyo in Akwa Ibom State Friday sentenced 10 fraudsters to different terms for various offences. The convicts were arrested on different dates, and at different locations within Uyo, Akwa Ibom State and Calabar, Cross River State for various offences.
