Tears flowed among relations, colleagues and friends as five members of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) drowned when the bus they were travelling veered off a bridge and plunged into a river on Monday, June 5. The victims (names withheld) were said to have travelled from Onitsha Park in Anambra State to their Place of Primary Assignment (PPA) in Calabar, Cross River State. The Tertiary Education Trust Fund has approved N130 million for each polytechnic as zonal intervention in its 2023 intervention line. The Director of Infrastructure of the Fund, Buhari Mika’Ilu, who confirmed the development at the TETFund/NBTE sensitisation workshop on the 2023 Zonal Intervention on Skills for Rectors and Directors of Skills in Beneficiary Polytechnics in Abuja on Tuesday, said the fund would be geared towards reinvigorating skills acquisition in polytechnics across the country. A 24-year-old jealous man from Ikot Ubo Village in Oruk Anam Local Government Area has allegedly murdered a three-month-old expectant mother from Ndot Ikot Ukpong Etor in Oruk Anam of Akwa Ibom in broad daylight.
