The Federal Government, Monday, approved the establishment of 37 new private universities nationwide. The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, told journalists after an extraordinary meeting of the Federal Executive Council presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at the State House, Abuja. The approval brings the total number of universities approved by President Muhammadu Buhari administration to 72. They include 14 Federal Universities, 21 State Universities and 37 Private Universities from 2015 to date. The Lagos State Police Command has finally arrested Nigerian Afrobeat singer, Seun Kuti, son of Afrobeat legend, Fela Kuti for assaulting a Police Officer. Nigerian chef, Hilda Effiong Bassey popularly known as Hilda Baci, Monday, officially surpassed the current Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual after cooking for more than 88 hours. The Association of Licensed Telecom Operators in Nigeria (ALTON) has announced withdrawal of USSD services it provides to Deposit Money Banks (DMBs) over N120 billion debt. A statement issued on Friday, May 12, and signed by the Chairman and Head of Operations of ALTON, Gbenga Adebayo and Gbolahan Awonuga, said the approval was granted because banks have continued to incur greater and greater debt, without making the commensurate payments.
